CMD AI assures action

MANGALORE: Chairman and managing director of the Air India Mr. Arvind Jadhav today assured that Air India will not shirk away from its responsibilities to help the families of the victims of the air crash. Speaking to reporters here today Mr. Jadhav said the report of board of enquiry will be brought to the public domain within next 90 days and whoever said that it was being delayed was nothing but lies.

Mr. Jadhav said Air India has given elaborate guidelines and instructions in a simplified manner to the families how to deal with the final compensation and to get the required papers. But among the families there were legal problems in determining the legal heir of the victim. “ We will not allow any family of the victim to go without final compensation. We are taking precautions that the compensation should not reach wrong hands” He said all that the families will have to do was to keep all the list of documents ready and present it along with the application.

Mr. Jadhav denied that there were deliberate delays in awarding the final compensation and bureaucratic process was taking too long. Mr. Jadhav said that the issue of giving jobs to the family members of the victims depended on what job they can do and whom to give the job among the family. This has to be decided at a later stage and Air India will actively look into the matter. Right now we want to reach the final compensation to every family he added.
